The beginning of almost everything

These trips through the US are already "old": 2012. But the idea of travelling and exploring more and more the continent we call America emerged not a long time ago.

More than one year ago  (Januray, 2014), I was obsessed with the idea of taking a car and getting to know better all the corners of this continent. I was on the web looking for all the necessary items to do this kind of thing (that later I would discover it has a name: Overlanding), including the car (what kind? what size?); tent (rooftop? ordinary? big? small?); necessary supplies; necessary equipment and all else.

And it was looking to know how to begin this new lifestyle that I discovered a video of a couple that already did (and is still doing) this kind of trip.

The video mentioned is this one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHiBWCnmW3g.

I discovered along with the video that they had a website and books published. And that was when things got really serious. Their project name is Challenging Your Dreams. I got more and more interested by overlanding, mainly to see that lots of people were already doing it. I found out later other people that had their own website and books too, like Paulo Rollo, Terra Adentro and others like Lost World Expedition and Overlanding Family, very nice too.

So one day I decided to buy their book. And when my family and I were in Villa Lobos on a sunny weekend, along with our little dog, Nani, I had the idea to instead of waiting for the book  to arrive home by the mail, go straight to the font and get it. I phoned them and they said they were hanging out at night, but if I could get there in the afternoon, I could make it. We went from Villa Lobos directly to Atibaia, a city in the countryside of São Paulo state. We were very well received by Grace and Robert, talked a while, saw the cars closely (two Land Rovers Defender 110) and, of course, I got my book autographed!

And this' been the kick starter that made me begin my own project: Discover Brasil.
