San Francisco

San Francisco is a city of no limits when it comes to recreational options. There are so many thing to see
and do that you´re bound to leave there forgetting something!

Fisherman's Wharf e Pier 39

Me and my aunt Sheyla, my cousins Silas and Sofia

Pier 39, the most famous Pier in San Francisco sits right in Fisherman's Wharf. It's a place where you can spend the whole afternoon walking, watching sea lions and seagulls, visiting Alcatraz island, walking around numerous stores and eating in restaurants, the majority of which being sea food. There's the portuary side of the city.

Some quality live music. I regret I didn't buy their CD.

The Alcatraz prison. There was a one week waiting list for it and we couldn't make it. A shame.
There's a huge Italian influence in San Francisco, you may see it by the name of the restaurants. We finished the day with a dinner in Fisherman's Grotto, a seafood restaurant with a nice view of the sunset.

Fisherman's Grotto, located in the end of the piers. The one in the photo is Sylvia, my aunt's sister.

A nice restaurant for watching the sunset.

Seafood soup, very tasty.

One of my favorite pictures

Golden Gate
We passed through the Golden Gate to get to the Francis Ford Coppola winery. We stopped on the bridge belvedere belvedere when going and in another belvedere, on the top of the hill (left in the photo below), when turning back from the winery.

The Francis Ford Coppola Winery

As well as the winery, there's the Coppola museum and a restaurant – Coppola, who directed movies like "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now". He goes personally to the winery once every month.

Back to San Francisco

It was a test trying to shoot Alcatraz from every corner in the city.
Lombard Street
The most famous San Francisco street. And the only one with a line of cars waiting to drive down!

Chinatown

It´s the right place to buy trinkets. We saw lots of Chinese people in San Francisco and in the Yosemite National Park.

We took a tour by car-boat that takes a little trip through the city and a little navigation by sea too, but nothing too impressive.

Ride The Ducks

At least he is sincere!
4th July - Independence Day

At the end of the afternoon the streets started getting crowded. It was Independence Day of the United States and the avenues bordering the piers closed due to the event. We sat on an open field to watch a U2
cover band playing and then fireworks.

The Yosemite National Park
It was the highlight of the trip, the most beautiful place without a shadow of doubt. The Yosemite National Park made us want to stay there forever longer but we had to follow the itinerary. It's the ready itineraries drawback. Even so, we enjoyed all the time spent there.
Starting with the right foot.

Nothing better than starting a trip like this well feeded. Even better still if you're having a picnic surrounded by that beautiful landscape.

Squirrel!
At first, the squirrels you come across are very cute. But after a while they start bothering you. You wanna see other animals, but there are only squirrels and more squirrels... Then, finally you see a different animal, like a deer! Then you forgive the thousands of squirrels you´ve seen before!

The park is huge. I guess one week is enough to see at least the main spots. We stayed only two days (one night at the Yosemite Lodge at the Falls), so we couldn't see much beyond the valley. But we hiked to some waterfalls in the valley and walked the Mariposa Grove trail.

Mariposa Grove. Trail through sequoias, trees that may pass the 100 metres!
Yosemite Valley viewpoint. For passing visitors, this is the most awaited part of the trip!

The California interior -
Between Yosemite National Park and Highway 1 through the Central Yosemite Highway

Highway 1
The trip down Highway 1 may have been one of the best. It looks like a
movie scene, and it really is.
Going by car is definitely well worth it, you don't even need a final
destination.

The stops are a must
If you travel by Highway 1, stopping to appreciate the landscapes is vital. It's part of the trip trying to stop as much as possible, cause the sceneries totally change bend after bend. The hardest part is finding the proper place to stop, since the road is very narrow.

Animals
Some animals you'll find for sure, like seagulls and squirrels... But what surprised me was a beach desginated to the Sea Elephants!
